The Structure of the Course

Our Advanced Driving course is designed to enable us to help you in the most effective way. There is a degree of flexibility built into the course which means that if you improve more quickly, then the course is shortened, and if you experience more difficulty, then the course will run to its full length. By using this structured approach, you can learn from the experience of a number of different observers which provides a different perspective each week.

Here is an outline of the West Pennine Group's Advanced Driving course.

Demonstration Drive - this is given by one of the Group's qualified observers in the observer's car and involves a drive of about an hour showing you the right way to drive. During this drive, it is quite likely that you will pick up some initial thoughts on how to improve.

Weeks 1 - 5: The course covers all aspects of driving, taking in town driving, observation, manouvering motorway driving and national speed limit driving.

Week 6: Pre Assessment. An opportunity for one of our observers to assess how you are progressing and to check that you have taken in what you have learned in the first part of the course.

Week 7: The Assessment by one of the Group's scheme co-ordinators to determine whether you are ready to be entered for your Advanced Driving Test.
