Whats involved

Becoming an Advanced Driver

First of all, don't worry about whether you're good enough to take the course.

You are!

The high standard we aim to achieve comes at the end of the course, not at the beginning!

The training offered by the West Pennine Group takes the form of a structured course which allows us to guarantee that we cover all aspects of advanced driving technique, whilst allowing you to progress at your own rate. The full course length is 7 weeks, although many people manage to accomplish a test pass in less than this. Each week's session takes approximately 2 hours, with you driving for most of this time.

The main benefit is derived from the observer who accompanies you on each drive identifying those areas of your driving which could be improved, and then using their knowledge of Advanced Driving the Essential Guide, the Highway Code and best driving practices, to explain to you how to alter your own technique to improve your driving. It's all done in a relaxed manner, with the emphasis being placed upon you getting a full understanding of what you are taught.
