This is a package which is purchased from the IAM RoadSmart (IAM). We have all that you need to sign up when you visit us or you can
complete the form online at www.iamroadsmart.com
Whichever you choose, on your first visit to us at the Clayton Green we’ll tell you all about the course, give you a FREE no
obligation demonstration of Advanced Driving, then if you decide to start the course, we will give you the necessary forms for completion.
An Advanced Driving Course package costs £149
What do I get for this?
Once you have completed the paper work we will forward it to the IAM on your behalf. You will be sent a copy of the IAM Course log
book , a welcome letter and the first year’s membership of the IAM and West Pennine Group.
When can I start the course?
You can start your course of preparation for the Advanced Test with West Pennine Group the week after your Demonstration Drive . We
will give you an up to date copy of the Highway Code on that day too.
How long is the course?
The course at West Pennine Group lasts 7 wks. Each week, one of our Qualified Observers will give you guidance on the skills needed in
order to prepare for your Advanced Test. Your Observer will complete a progress sheet which you can take away with you and will advise on any next steps which usually includes reference to your
Course Logbook and Advanced Driving the essential guide. Towards the end of your course, you will have an Assessment conducted by one of our Senior
Observers. By that time you will be ready to experience Test conditions and you and the Senior Observer will then have a real sense of how you might perform on the day of the Test. After this, we’ll
discuss your next steps and then advise the IAM that you are test ready.
Once the IAM RoadSmart has been advised that you are
test ready an IAM Examiner will contact you within 3 weeks to agree a convenient date and time for your Test. Whilst you are waiting for your Test we encourage you to continue with your Observed runs
to help keep your driving at peak performance.
